    OLD Rockhound here . . . I'm no expert, but shouldn't you be using a chisel for cracking the geodes to give you a nice clean edge? It's especially good that way to preserve any crystals that might be inside. Oh, how I envy that location!

    My great grandpa used to mine Apache tears back in 70’s-80’s. I have a bucket full of thousands of them from the size of tic tacs to larger than golf balls. It’s around 33 pounds. My mom has had this bucket sitting around since he passed away in 1999. I don’t know what to do with them I would sell them if someone was interested in them.

    Last time we were there, down with the logbook was a lil troll doll and a 10 mm socket. Whoever put the socket in there is my hero! I remember years ago, before the aluminum ladder was installed there was a jenky rope ladder. In the 80s we went with a group that did restoration work on the cave, removing ropes and string, scrubbing graffiti. Fun work with a great group of people.

    Do you really need a rope for this? The rope looks very heavy and bulky. It there any point that you felt that you could not go up/down without it. It looks like there are solid anchor points for your hands and feet. It seems that taking your time and choosing the best places to grip is the key.

    If I remember the “ Mail trail” drop you down to the headwaters. You go into a dry creek bed then come to the springs that feed Fossil Creek. Almost a million gallons an hour of 68 degree ( I think) highly mineralized water come out of about a dozen springs. We used to hike there a lot when it had the dam and sluice that fed Child’s power plant off the Verde.

    Beautiful stones. The natives would sometimes knapp arrow heads or blade from jasper when other options where scarce. Every now and then, you might find a red jasper point laying about after the monsoon washes it up.

    Dude, your coordinates aren't accurate. This takes you to Robbers Roost. Your video is in the Junipers. That's 4000' elevation. There's no Junipers at those coordinates. Why you fooling us?

    • @ReganOutdoors
      @ReganOutdoors Рік тому

      That location is at the top of Pima road at cave creek, hang a right and go all the way out towards seven springs. Have you driven that before? That’s exactly where I filmed it. Those coordinates take you to the exact pull off in which I filmed it. Anyone who’s been out towards seven springs or does target practice out there would recognize it. I don’t know what your agenda is with these comments but the coordinates are accurate, as is the location. Go spew vitriol elsewhere…

    • @ReganOutdoors
      @ReganOutdoors Рік тому

      Also, why don’t you pause the video at the 2:05 mark and take a look at the mountains and power lines running parallel to the road. Anyone who’s driven out to Humboldt Mountain will recognize those. They aren’t high desert mountains. At 4,000 ft you have fully-developed juniper trees, not shrubs. The elevation towards 7-springs is almost 3k….

    • @raymonddettlaff1386
      @raymonddettlaff1386 Рік тому

      @ReganOutdoors ok. No I've never taken Pima all the way. When I go to Google Earth, coordinates take me west. The area it's showing, would only be accessible from Table Mesa Rd. Thank you for setting me in the right direction.
